Our view
The Shot Scope LM1 arrived at the start of 2026 and immediately changed the conversation around entry-level launch monitors. At £199.99 with no subscription fees and a built-in colour screen, it removes the two objections that kept most club golfers away from this category: cost and complexity.
What the LM1 measures is deliberately limited. Five metrics — ball speed, club speed, smash factor, carry distance, total distance. No spin rate, no launch angle, no simulator golf. Shot Scope made a clear product decision: give golfers the numbers that actually change how they practice, and nothing that adds cost or confusion.
For the golfer who wants to know exactly how far they carry a 7-iron on a normal strike, and whether their ball striking is getting better or worse over time, the LM1 answers both questions accurately and immediately. The built-in screen is a genuine advantage over phone-dependent rivals — you hit, you look down, you see your number. No Bluetooth pairing on a cold Tuesday morning.
The honest limitation is the absence of simulator integration. If you want to play virtual courses at home over winter, you need a different device. The Garmin R10 or Rapsodo MLM2PRO are the right alternatives. But if your goal is better practice data at the range and course, the LM1 is the clearest value recommendation in the category.

Who is this for?
| Handicap 0–12 | Low handicap | Good |
| Handicap 13–20 | Mid handicap | Ideal |
| Handicap 21–28 | High handicap | Ideal |
| Handicap 28+ | Beginner | Good |
The LM1 suits any golfer who wants accurate carry distances and strike feedback without complexity or ongoing cost. It is particularly well suited to mid and high handicappers who have never used a launch monitor before — the simplicity of the setup and the clarity of the five metrics make it easy to build a practice habit around the data. Low handicappers who want spin rates, launch angles, or simulator golf will need to look at higher-specification devices.
