Garmin Approach CT10

Fourteen sensors that attach to your club grips and pair with your Garmin golf watch. Fully automatic shot tracking with up to four years of battery life on replaceable CR2032 cells. For Garmin golf watch owners only.

£199.99

Full set of 14 sensors. Requires a compatible Garmin golf watch and the Garmin Golf app. Also available as a 3-sensor Starter Pack at £25.99 — see garmin.com for details.

GARMIN WATCH REQUIRED

The CT10 sensors only work with a compatible Garmin golf watch — the Approach S40, S42, S44, S50, S60, S62, S70, or similar. They will not work as a standalone system or with non-Garmin devices. If you do not already own a compatible Garmin golf watch, the CT10 is not the right starting point. See the Arccos Smart Sensors or Shot Scope CONNEX for systems that work without a specific GPS watch.

Garmin Approach CT10

Our view

The Garmin Approach CT10 is the right shot tracking system for exactly one type of golfer: someone who already owns a compatible Garmin golf watch and wants to add automatic shot tracking without changing any other part of their setup.

For that golfer, it is an excellent choice. The sensors are the lightest in the category at 9 grams, attach cleanly to the grip end without affecting swing feel, and work fully automatically once paired. The user-replaceable CR2032 batteries last up to four years — you will likely replace the battery once in the entire ownership lifetime of the sensors, and you can do it yourself without returning the product. That is a meaningfully different proposition from Arccos, whose sensors have non-replaceable batteries and a 2-year guaranteed lifespan.

The Garmin Golf app integration gives you Strokes Gained analysis, club distance data, and access to tournaments and leaderboards. If you already use the Garmin Golf app for your GPS watch data, adding CT10 data to the same ecosystem is genuinely seamless.

The Starter Pack at £25.99 for 3 sensors is a sensible way to test the system before committing to the full set. Fit them to your driver, a mid-iron, and a wedge for a few rounds to understand whether the data changes how you play before spending £199.99 on the full 14.

The honest limitation is hard: if you do not own a compatible Garmin golf watch, none of this works. The CT10 is not a standalone system and has no path to use without the watch. Golfers starting from scratch with shot tracking should look at the Shot Scope CONNEX at £49.99, Arccos Smart Sensors at £224.99, or the Arccos Air bundle at £374.98, all of which work without a specific manufacturer's watch.

Pros

  • Fully automatic shot tracking — no manual input required
  • Lightest sensors in the category at 9 grams each
  • User-replaceable CR2032 batteries — up to 4 years life, swap yourself
  • IPX7 waterproof — submersible
  • Seamless integration with Garmin Golf app ecosystem
  • Strokes Gained analysis against professional benchmarks
  • Typical yardage displayed before every shot
  • 3-sensor Starter Pack available at £25.99 to try first

Cons

  • Requires a compatible Garmin golf watch — will not work without one
  • No standalone or cross-brand compatibility
  • Garmin Golf app subscription may be required for full features — check current pricing
  • Only 14 sensors — other systems include 15 or 16 (spare for rotating clubs)
  • No dedicated pin-marking button on the sensors themselves
  • Security update support listed until 2020 — older product line

The CT10 is right for any Garmin golf watch owner who wants automatic shot tracking. Handicap is not the deciding factor — the deciding factor is whether you already own a compatible Garmin watch. If you do, this is a straightforward addition. If you do not, look at the Shot Scope CONNEX, Arccos Smart Sensors, or Arccos Air bundle instead.
