Our view
The SkyTrak+ is a meaningful step up from the original SkyTrak in almost every dimension. The addition of dual Doppler radar alongside the photometric camera brings club data into the picture — club head speed, club path, face angle — which the original SkyTrak could not measure. Machine learning algorithms improve consistency across varying conditions. And the updated camera system now works reliably outdoors on mats, which the original struggled with.
At £1,695 it sits in a competitive part of the market alongside the FlightScope Mevo Gen2 at £1,199 and the Rapsodo MLM2PRO at £649. The SkyTrak+ is more expensive than both but brings a different combination of technology: the photometric camera for ball data accuracy indoors combined with radar for club data, rather than radar-only or combined tracking from a different angle.
The Shot Score and Shot Optimizer features are worth understanding specifically. Shot Optimizer calculates the expected distance your ball should travel based on your club head speed over 20 shots, then shows you how close your actual results are to that theoretical maximum. For golfers who want to understand whether they are getting the most from their swing, that is a genuinely useful diagnostic tool that goes beyond what most devices offer.
The honest caveats come partly from user reviews. One detailed review flags inconsistent spin rate readings and a battery that stopped holding charge. Spin accuracy is always the most challenging metric for any launch monitor and the SkyTrak+ is not immune to this. The software usability also received some criticism for navigation complexity.
For golfers building a home simulator who want a well-established brand with a strong track record and club data included, the SkyTrak+ is a solid choice. For golfers who prioritise value and no subscription, the FlightScope Mevo Gen2 deserves careful comparison at £496 less.

- Club data included — face angle, club path, club head speed, smash factor
- 21 metrics — one of the most comprehensive data sets at this price
- Machine learning for improved measurement consistency
- Works indoors and outdoors on mats
- Shot Optimizer — genuinely useful diagnostic for distance efficiency
- Shot Score for benchmarking against global performance database
- Easy setup with red laser alignment dot
- Bag Mapping and Wedge Matrix tools
- Established brand with strong UK retailer support
Cons
- £1,695 is more expensive than the FlightScope Mevo Gen2 at £1,199
- Some user reviews report spin rate inconsistency
- Battery reliability concerns noted in some user reviews
- Simulator software may require additional subscription costs
- Software navigation reported as less intuitive than competitors
- Simulation software compatibility narrower than FlightScope Mevo Gen2

| Handicap 21–28 | High handicap | Good |
| Handicap 28+ | Beginner | Marginal |
The SkyTrak+ suits golfers who want club data and ball data from a single device with a well-known brand behind it. It works particularly well for golfers who want to use the Shot Optimizer diagnostics as part of a structured improvement programme, and for those building an indoor simulator who want both indoor and outdoor flexibility. Compare carefully against the FlightScope Mevo Gen2 before committing — the price difference is meaningful and the Mevo Gen2 includes courses with no subscription.
